Fashion Faux Pas
to
Fashion Fabulous!
Benefit Fashion Show & Auction

I have been invited to attend and model for this fabulous 5th annual fundraising fashion show in the lobby of the glamorous Paramount Theater today,
Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. It is a great cause that provides formal gowns to Seattle area high sch-
ool girls who are unable to purchase their own dance attire. Dresses
and accessories are collected throughout the year and made available at boutiques in the
spring. Each girl is paired with a personal shopper volunteer who assists her in picking out
the
 perfect gown.

Wacky Wednesday

Exterior

This wacky space-saving house designed by the famous German Industrial Designer named Luigi Colan incorporates six square meter cylinders containing a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The cylinder rotates left or right bringing the room you want into view of the main living room. There’s a separate toilet and a small hallway, and everything is controlled with a remote.

Monday Yumminess

Try to stuff in as much summer odds 'n ends before the countdown to fall..
It's still sunny in most parts. Can you believe even Seattle is seeing the sun!? It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. After work or after summer play, make yourself some summer zest lemon ice cream sandwiches.

FALL TRENDS '09

Blazers are the 'it' thing this fall. Before the weather turns on you and you are needing the 'it' item, find a thrift store near you and get yourself a structured shoulder padded blazer.

Velvet is coming back. The Victorian fabrics with a new twist. An item like this Timour Jacket could easily be played down for the daytime and jazzed up for a sexy evening out.

A fall item that would be so usable would be a fun cutout sweater. One that can add to your outfit, give you warmth, and could be worn different ways.

Women need a night out or a Relaxing one in!

STAYING IN?

Treat yourself to an inexpensive way of pampering yourself. (Thanks to Whole Living)

Face- and Body-Cleansing Scrub

This invigorating ubtan (cleansing paste) scrub improves circulation and help tone slack muscles. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup oat or chickpea (garbanzo) flour, 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric, 2 tablespoons each ground mustard and crushed fresh coriander leaves, 3 tablespoons rose water, 1 cup orange juice, and 1/2 cup water; stir to blend. Work the scrub all over your face and body. Rinse with warm water.

Wake-Up Scrub

A skin-softening body scrub made from coffee grounds and aromatic plant essences is a traditional treatment that's used in Thai and Balinese spas, and it's a luxurious way to start the day.

Easy-to-Make Lip Balm

To avoid putting unwanted dyes, petroleum products, and preservatives near your mouth, mix up a batch of balm yourself.

Skin-Firming Mask

Cosmetic clay contains a host of skin-nourishing minerals, and its naturally absorbent properties help draw debris, dead skin cells, excess oils, and other toxins from pores. Used weekly, a clay mask (also called a mud mask) results in a smooth, supple, deeply clean complexion.

Eye Soothers ***

The skin in the eye area is especially thin and sensitive, so it flares up fast when you're stressed and fatigued -- or surviving on a less-than-perfect diet. Natural remedies, though, can lessen redness or puffiness almost as quickly as it appears. Many remedies use simple ingredients that are already in your kitchen.

The Difference....

There isn’t so much of a difference between fashion and interior design. I believe they both incorporate a thought process and a way to express oneself. Each piece or item has to fit like a glove.

Not being the only one moving into my own pad, but my friend and co-worker Greg (BR stylist) is also making the move. I have figured out, it is hard to be picky and cheap at the same time. Well, inexpensive- cheap to me sounds like I am not into quality. Quality out weighs quantity for sure.

Shortly I will be showing my own “abode” and what inspires me. But for now, I want to present how fashion and interior design can go hand and hand. There is a blog called  Coco+Kelley and one of the topics is called Rooms from the Runway. Each piece is inspired by one or the other. ENJOY!
